Title (2): Grace Ramos, Ohio Civil Rights Commission Script: (voiceover) Now, let’s hear from Grace Ramos, who serves as Commissioner of the Ohio Civil Rights Commission. Grace talks positively about the Census Bureau’s efforts to talk to residents in their own language and explains why partners are so crucial to the success of the Census. (Grace Ramos – audio) Word of mouth always in the community – especially in the Hispanic community is just wonderful, especially, if you can go to some of the groups that need it in their native tongue. I want to encourage people to work for the Census as enumerators, because then there is that comfort level if you get community people involved and going out to their own community, and helping them to fill out the census and encouraging them. I think for the census to do a good job, we have to partner. And we have to use these organizations because they are the “heart: of the community, and without reaching the “heart” of the community, we’re not going to reach the “minds” of the community. (voiceover) Thanks for listening. And be sure to check back to hear from more of our Census partners as they talk about why they are supporting this historic event.
