The median monthly asking rent for these apartments was $654. Six in 10 had swimming pools, and nine in 10 had air conditioning and dishwashers, according to a report released today by the Commerce Departmentūs Census Bureau. The report is based on results from the Survey of Market Absorption which provides data on privately financed, nonsubsidized, unfurnished apartments in buildings with five units or more. The survey is conducted by the Census Bureau for the Department of Housing and Urban Development. The report, Characteristics of Apartments Completed: 1995, (H131/95-A), provides preliminary data on asking rents, how quickly the apartments were rented, the number of bedrooms, utilities, and other features of the apartments, by region of the country.
