CENSUS BUREAU RELEASES 1995 NATIONAL POPULATION ESTIMATES

The Commerce Department's Census Bureau today is releasing "U.S. Population Estimates by Age, Sex, Race, and Hispanic Origin: 1990 to 1995" (PPL-41) that contains national population estimates as of July 1, 1995 by age, gender, race, and for persons of Hispanic origin. Comparable figures are presented for the years 1990 to 1994. The report's six appendices provide the following:

In addition, two summary tables are being released. Table 1 shows national population estimates of the resident population as of July 1, 1995 by age, gender, race, and for persons of Hispanic origin, as well as quarterly estimates from April 1, 1990 to October 1, 1995 for all races. Table 2 shows national population estimates from July 1, 1990 to July 1, 1995 by race and Hispanic origin for births, deaths, net international migration, and U.S. citizens returning from abroad. Call PIO for a copy of these tables.

The national population estimates are available in paper copy, in the Population Electronic diskette series (PE-10), and on the Census Bureau Internet site at: http://www.census.gov/population/estimates/nation.
