(The embargoed tabulations can be accessed on the Internet at http://www.census.gov/dcmd/www/embargo/embargo.html. Call the Public Information Office to obtain access information. After the release time, the state data can be accessed at http://www.census.gov/population/www/estimates/statepop.html and the county data, at http://www.census.gov/population/www/estimates/countypop.html.) The data for states and counties include cross-tabulations by single year of age (to age 85 and over), race (White; African American; American Indian, Eskimo and Aleut; and Asian and Pacific Islander), Hispanic origin and sex. In addition, there are tables providing rankings by race and Hispanic origin for states and counties in 1997. The following summary tables are available on the Internet: - Estimates of the population of states and counties ranked by race and Hispanic origin in 1997. - Estimates of the population of states by race and Hispanic origin for each year from 1990 to 1997. - Estimates of the population of counties by race and Hispanic origin for each year from 1990 to 1997. - Estimates of the population of counties by age group for each year from 1990 to 1997. The following downloadable files also are on the Internet: - State-level estimates with single year of age, sex, race, and Hispanic origin detail for each year from 1990 to 1997. - County-level estimates with single year of age and sex detail for each year from 1990 to 1997. - County-level estimates with race and Hispanic origin detail for each year from 1990 to 1997. - County-level estimates with 5-year age groups, sex, and limited race and Hispanic origin detail for each year from 1990 to 1997. In addition to the information available on the Internet, selected state and county data are available in hard copy and on diskettes or computer tapes and may be ordered by contacting the Population Division on 301-457-2422 or (e-mail: pop@census.gov).
