The estimates are available in the Census Bureau's International Database at http://www.census.gov/ipc/www/idbnew.html. Puerto Rico's growth rate between 1990 and 1997 was 8.2 percent. This was not statistically different from the United States' 8.1 percent increase during the same period. The Census Bureau based its latest population estimates on births, deaths and net migration. Those components are detailed in the database.
