Census 2000
Census 2000 Brief: The Hispanic Population -- Examines the distribution of the Hispanic population across the United States as reflected in Census 2000. Data on the population of specific Hispanic groups for states, counties and cities. (Tentatively scheduled for release in two weeks.)
Profile of General Demographic Characteristics: Census 2000 -- Highlights from Census 2000 short-form questionnaire data collected for every resident of the country; national and state profiles will be released on a flow basis. Eventually, substate profiles will be available for other areas down to the census tract. (Tentatively scheduled for release in two weeks.)

Facts for Features: Older Americans Month: (May 2001) -- Statistical information from the Census Bureau's demographic subject areas about Americans 65 and over, who are recognized in May. The Older Population in the United States: March 2000 -- National data on various demographic and socio-economic characteristics of Americans age 55 and over. (Tentatively scheduled for release in two weeks.)
Facts for Features: Asian Pacific American Heritage Month: (May 2001) -- Statistical information from the Census Bureau's demographic areas about the Asian and Pacific Islander population, whose heritage is celebrated in May. Similar Facts for Features commemorate other events and holidays throughout the year. (Tentatively scheduled for release in two weeks.)
The Asian and Pacific Islander Population in the United States: March 2000 -- Tables from the March 2000 Current Population Survey show national data on topics such as age, marital status, family type and size, education, occupation, income, poverty and housing for this race group. (Tentatively scheduled for release in two weeks.)
Facts for Features: Mother's Day: (May 13, 2001) -- Statistical information from the Census Bureau's demographic and economic subject areas pertaining to Mother's Day 2001. Households and Living Arrangements: March 2000 -- Households, families and living arrangements, including characteristics of single-parent families, differences in the living arrangements of younger and older adults and new data on unmarried partner households. Geographical Mobility: March 1999 to March 2000 -- Changes in the number and rate of people moving, changes in types of movement, differences in movers' characteristics and changes in how the population is distributed in the United States. (Tentatively scheduled for release in four weeks.)
Why People Move: Exploring the March 2000 Current Population Survey -- A look at the reasons for moving both long and short distances, by chararacteristics such as educational attainment, employment status, income and poverty. (Tentatively scheduled for release in four weeks.)

1997 American Indian and Alaska Native-Owned Businesses -- Data on American Indian and Alaska Native-owned businesses, including receipts, number of paid employees, annual payroll, size of firms and legal form of organization; for the nation, states, metropolitan areas, counties and cities. (Tentatively scheduled for release in three weeks.)
1997 Economic Census of Outlying Areas: Puerto Rico, Construction -- Estimated employment, value added, selected costs, dollar value of business, assets and capital expenditures for Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands. (Tentatively scheduled for release in three weeks.)

2000 U.S. Population Center in Phelps County, Mo. -- 04/02/01 -- A point near Edgar Springs, Mo., is the new U.S. population center based on an analysis of Census 2000 data. The center is 12.1 miles south and 32.5 miles west of the 1990 center of population, which was 9.7 miles southeast of Steelville, Mo. Largest Census-to-Census Population Increase in U.S. History As Every State Gains, Census Bureau Reports -- 04/02/01 -- Second in a series of Census 2000 briefs, titled Population Change and Distribution: 1990 to 2000, analyzes the nation's population growth. Accompanying tables on race and Hispanic origin for all states and cities with 100,000 or more population. A news conference on the brief was held at the National Press Club April 2. This report is the only consolidated source of state and local area data on the majority of direct federal expenditures, as well as data on federal loan and insurance programs. The Profile America CD for April is in distribution. This series of 60-second features, one for each weekday of the month, is now heard on more than 500 stations across the country. Each feature is keyed to an event whose anniversary or observance is celebrated on the scheduled air date. April's features will cover such topics as the income tax, National Coin Week, the first personal computer and the invention of the zipper.
