The 2001 Annual Survey of State Tax Collections shows state taxes collected by category and per capita taxes collected for every state. The data are from state government records. A list of states ranked by their tax collections follows. Although quality assurance methods were applied to all phases of data collection and processing, the data are subject to some nonsampling error, such as errors of response and miscoding. -X-
