JOHN J. MCENENY

New York State Assemblyman
104th District

Is a fifth generation Albanian who has maintained a life-long fascination with his hometown. Educated at Christian Brothers Academy and Siena College, he pursued graduate studies in history and holds certificates in Community Development and in Public Administration from New Mexico State University and the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. He also served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Colombia, South America.

In a twenty-five year career in government administration, he served in a number of positions in federal, state, city and county government including Assistant County Executive, Commissioner of Human Resources/CETA Director, Regional Director of the 1980 Census, and Director of the State Urban Cultural Parks Program. He has also served in the County Legislature, and has been a member of the State Assembly since 1993.

An avid preservationist, the Assemblyman has served as Albany County Historian, Chairman of the Historic Sites Commission, Secretary of the Tricentennial Commission, and a member of numerous civic and cultural boards. He is currently a member of the State Archives Partnership Trust and the Commission of the Restoration on the Capitol.
