Dr. Kermit Wies

Chicago Area Transportation Study (CATS)

Dr. Kermit Wies is director of Plan Development for the Chicago Area Transportation Study (CATS), the metropolitan planning organization for northeastern Illinois. He is responsible for the development and maintenance of CATS’ travel-demand forecasting models in support of the Chicago region's transportation programs. CATS has been a pioneer in travel-demand forecasting since the 1950s and puts a high priority on quality technical analysis of transportation problems. Dr. Wies has been on the modeling staff at CATS for 19 years and has recently completed regional travel forecasts for his fifth long-range planning cycle.
