                Census Bureau to Brief Reporters on 
             Census 2000 Long-Form Demographic Profiles

What:     The Census Bureau's Los Angeles regional director and state and 
          local officials will brief reporters on the release of Census 
          2000 demographic profiles containing social, economic, and 
          housing characteristics for California, Los Angeles County and 
          Los Angeles. These data are derived from responses to census 
          long-form questions.


When:     Tuesday, May 14; 10 a.m. (local time)

Who:      James Holmes, acting regional director
          Andrew Ruppenstein, analyst and program specialist, California 
             State Data Center
          Paul M. Ong, professor, University of California, Los Angeles, 
             School of Public Policy and Social Research

Where:    Mayor Tom Bradley Observation Room
          City Hall, 26th Floor
          200 N. Spring St.
          Los Angeles, Calif.  

   Enter City Hall at Main Street entrance; go through Security Check-In;
take express elevator to the 22nd floor; on the 22nd floor take elevator
to the 26th floor.
