The following are the broad outlines of the Census Bureau's plans for disseminating the Census 2000 demographic profiles containing 100-percent and sample data from early May to early June, 2002.

Embargoed data/product announcement general guidance:
The demographic profiles will be available to bona fide media organizations on a three work-day embargo period beginning in early May.

As was the case with the dissemination of Summary File 2, a product announcement will be distributed when the data are loaded on the Public Information Office's Internet embargo page <http://www.census.gov/embargo/www/dcmd/embargo_profiles.html>. To link to the FTP server where the data will reside, bona fide media should enter the Internet embargo page and click on "Demographic Profiles: Census 2000." User ID and password for FTP access remain the same as with previous releases. They are posted on the embargoed news release page. These data will be available in ASCII and PDF file formats.
