Census Bureau to Brief Reporters
on Census 2000 Race, Hispanic Data
Analysts from the U.S. Census Bureau will brief reporters Friday, Feb.
16, at 1 p.m. EST on the Census 2000 race and Hispanic data that will be a
part of the state redistricting (Public Law 94-171) files scheduled for
release in March.
The redistricting data could be used to redraw federal, state and local
legislative districts.
Census Bureau analysts will discuss the 63 possible race combinations,
tabulations of the Hispanic- or Latino-origin population and other topics.
No Census 2000 data will be released at the briefing.
