                     **CENSUS BUREAU MEDIA ADVISORY**

                 Census Bureau Director to Update Media 
                        on Status of Census 2000 

    Census Bureau Director Kenneth Prewitt will hold a news briefing on
Wednesday, July 26, at 12:00 noon EDT to discuss current Census 2000
operations and quality-control issues.
