of 8 percent over 2000.

"Hospital revenues grew to $462 billion in 2001, an increase of more
than $30 billion," said Census Bureau analyst Jennifer Thorne. "This
represents an increase of about 7 percent over the previous year."

Tables from the 2001 Service Annual Survey: Health Care and Social

Estimates found in the report's tables are based on data from the 2001 Service Annual Survey and administrative records. To maintain confidentiality, no estimates are published that would disclose the operations of an individual firm. The total error of an estimate may be comprised of sampling error and nonsampling error. Individuals who use Service Annual Survey estimates to create new estimates should cite the Census Bureau as the source of the original estimates only.
