Census Bureau News Conference on Income and Poverty
What: The U.S. Census Bureau will hold a news conference to
release its annual reports on income and poverty in the United
States. The reports, Income in the United States: 2002 and Poverty
in the United States: 2002, are based on data collected in the 2003
Current Population Survey's annual social and economic supplement.
Also being released is Supplemental Measures of Material
Well-Being: Expenditures, Consumption and Poverty 1998 and 2001.
When: Friday, Sept. 26, at 10 a.m. EDT
Who: Daniel Weinberg, chief of the Housing and Household
Economic Statistics Division, U.S. Census Bureau, will discuss the
findings.

How: The Census Bureau will provide bus transportation for the
media from the National Press Club at 14th and F streets in
Washington to the Suitland Federal Center. The bus will depart
from the National Press Club at 9 a.m. on the day of the news
conference; it will leave the Census Bureau for the return trip,
following the conclusion of the news conference, at about 11:30 a.m.
Media who plan to attend the news conference should call

Non-media who plan to attend, should call (301) 763-3183
by 10 a.m. Sept. 25.
Photo identification is required for admission to the Census Bureau.
(A visa or passport and additional information is required of
noncitizens.)
Those who do not attend may listen to a live audio transmission
of the news conference via a phone listen line on (888) 455-3614;
use passcode: CENSUS. Go to www.census.gov and look for the
income and poverty reports icon in the top left corner. Clicking
on the icon will take you to the news release, the reports and
other materials. This information will be available on the Census
Bureau's Web site beginning at 10 a.m. on the day of the news
conference.
