Accuracy of the Data

The Accuracy of the Data [PDF 283k] document provides a summary of the ACS sample design, estimation methodology (including the specific methodology used to produce these multiyear estimates), and accuracy of the ACS data.

Quality Measures

The quality measures illustrate the steps the Census Bureau takes to ensure that ACS data are accurate and reliable. For the Multiyear Estimates Study, we computed the following four quality measures:

  1. Sample Size
  2. Response Rates and Reasons for Noninterviews
  3. Coverage Rates
  4. Item Allocation Rates

Additional information on each of these measures, including why the measure is important and how it was calculated is available in Quality Measures Documentation. [PDF 51k]

Downloadable Quality Measures data are available for all published geographies down to the tract level. Further information about these data sets can be found in the technical documentation on the FTP server.
