Bullying in the Workplace (Managers/Supervisors)
8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Training Room T-18
Trainer:  Federal Mediation & Conciliation Services

Description:  This full day workshop will define bullying behavior and give managers avenues to address it. Through lecture and interactive exercises, we will navigate the maze of bullying behavior and leave with real world practical ways to respond to episodes of bullying behavior. There will be opportunities for participants to practice crafting personal responses to acts of bullying behavior.

Resolving Workplace Disputes with Effective Communication (General Workforce)

Trainer:  Federal Mediation & Conciliation Services

Description:  To provide participants with an overview of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) and expose employees to the field of conflict resolution at the U.S. Census Bureau for employees located in Washington, DC Metropolitan area. This ADR training will discuss the dynamics of conflict and its affect upon workplace culture.

Participants will be exposed to the spectrum of ADR processes available with a concentration on the use of negotiation skills and specific applications of the use of mediation in the workplace.

Conflict & Stress Management (Managers & Supervisors)
8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Trainer:  Federal Mediation & Conciliation Services

Description:  This ½ day workshop will introduce the participant to common family and workplace stressors, the effects of stress on the body and how to effectively de-stress. Through lecture, video presentation and role-play, participants will identify personal stressors, how to deal with them, relaxation techniques and how to handle difficult personalities that cause workplace stress.

Dealing with Difficult People (General Workforce)

Description:  This ½ day workshop will discuss what makes people difficult; difficult personality types, and strategies for effectively interacting with them. Participants will also have an opportunity to assess their conflict management styles.

Communication, Conflict Resolution & ADR (Managers & Supervisors)
8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Trainer:  Federal Mediation & Conciliation Services

Description:  Managers and supervisors will receive a one-day overview of Alternative Dispute Resolution and the field of communication and conflict resolution. This ADR training will discusses the dynamics of conflict and its affect upon workplace culture, while teaching participants effective ways of managing difficult conversations and conflicts. Participants will be introduced to an interactive assessment tool designed to identify the various conflict styles that exist in the workplace.

This training program will also introduce the spectrum of ADR processes available to the public/federal sectors, the differences between each process, and the mediation process that is use to address EEO complaints or grievances at the U.S. Census Bureau.

How to Enroll

You must first receive supervisory approval. If you have a CBS account, please go to ETMIS+ and register for the class. If you do not have a CBS account, have your Administrative Officer register you for the class.
