How to Resolve Conflict with Others – Self Mediation (General Workforce)
8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Training Room T09

Description:  This one-half day workshop will empower employees to handle the challenges of today's workplace by learning to use a simple yet powerful tool – "Self Mediation" – to manage the differences that impair teamwork, quality, decision-making, and cooperation.

Through interactive discussions, role-play, and videos, participants will learn to:

  • Assess workplace conflict to determine whether Self Mediation is appropriate.
  • Identify and eliminate two reflective behaviors that obstruct joint problem solving.
  • Identify the five elements of the retaliatory cycle.
  • Initiate dialogue with a co-worker to solve a workplace conflict.
  • Form agreements that prevent recurrence of conflict.

Managerial Mediation – Conflict Resolution Skills for Managers (Managers/Supervisors)
8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Training Room T06

Description:  Managers/Supervisors will learn to use a practical tool to help employees resolve workplace conflict at the lowest possible level. Participants will leave with the tools to build better working relationships, enhance performance, improve productivity, and cut the unnecessary cost of workplace conflict.

Managers and supervisors will learn to:

  • Determine WHEN problems can best be solved by Managerial Mediation.
  • Prepare the best CONTEXT for a mediation meeting.
  • Perform the three PRIMARY TASKS of the manager-as-mediator.
  • Negotiate agreements to PREVENT RECURRENCE.

How to Enroll

You must first receive supervisory approval. If you have a CBS account, please go to ETMIS+ and register for the class. If you do not have a CBS account, have your Administrative Officer register you for the class.
