CENSUS OF CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRIES
Description of Data Products and Ordering Information
The Census of Construction Industries data products are
available in three formats: Portable Document Format (PDF) files, data sets in the American Fact Finder and on
CDROM. Information on the individual companies in the census are not released. If you require data
not produced in one of our tables, a special tabulation can be purchased

PUBLICATION SERIES:
INDUSTRY SERIES
- The definitive measures of activity in the Nation's
construction industries. Separate industry
reports, providing statistics for the Nation and individual
States on establishments with payroll. These reports provide measures of the following: number
of establishments, number of employees, payroll, selected
operating costs, value of construction work done, capital
expenditures, inventories,
industry profiles, assets, depreciation and more. 1992 Summary of Findings and the
1992 Economic Census site provide some of the data found in the 1992
reports. A list of the 1997 reports is available.
GEOGRAPHIC AREA SERIES
- State-by-State summaries issued in nine regional reports.
Each report provides data for
establishments with payroll, with detailed totals by industry for
States and metropolitan
areas. 1992 Summary of Findings
provide some of the
data found in the 1992 reports.
SUBJECT REPORT
- 1992 - Legal Form of Organization and Type of Operation - One report
providing employment, payroll,
value of construction work done, selected operating costs, and
other statistics at the national
level for each industry by legal form of organization and type of
operation. This report includes
data for establishments with and without payroll. Summary of findings provide some of the
data found in this report.
- 1997 - U.S. Summary reports for both the Industry Series and the Geographic Area Series.
SERIES DATA AVAILABLE IN THE FOLLOWING FORMATS:
PORTABLE DOCUMENT FORMAT FILES
For 1997, the first release of the reports to the public will be in this format. PDF files
for both 1992 and 1997 publications are available free on the Census Bureau web site. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to view the files.

CDROM
- The 1997 Ecomonic Census CDROM is now available for purchase. Follow link for the lastest information on CRROM contents, release schedule and ordering information.
- The 1992 Economic Census CDROM contains all eight
sectors:
Construction, retail trade, wholesale
trade, service industries, financial, insurance, and real estate
industries, transportation
, communications and utilities, manufactures, and mineral
industries.
Plus several
related
programs including statistics on
minority and women-owned businesses.
