Affirmations Regarding the Surveys of Minority- and Women-Owned Business EnterprisesWe, the Census Bureau, extend our deep appreciation to all those business owners who complete and return the requested survey information. This will enable us to provide the most accurate data available regarding businesses, companies, and the people who own and operate them. We present two (of the many) people who make available--not to forget make more useful--the data published by our organization. Their affirmations provide a glimpse into the importance of the Surveys of Minority- and Women-Owned Business Enterprises program. Thank you!
"The Minority Business Development Agency is a
bureau of the Department of Commerce which has the
responsibility for helping minority businesses in three
areas. First, access to markets; second, access to
finance; third, management and technical assistance.
" " For the minority businesses themselves, in
order to understand the market of the future and what
they can do, what the possibilities are, they need to
have the information themselves. So its, it really
benefits the minority businesses to understand the
environment so they can grow and become wealthy
individuals. " " MBDA will use SMOBE in two areas, first, in
order to understand the dynamic market growth that is
happening within the minority community itself, and
secondly, to begin to tracking what areas minority
businesses are in to try to encourage them to move into
new areas of growth. "
Diahann Lassus, President "The National Foundation [Association] for Women Business
Owners uses the survey on women business ownership to put
together statistics and a fact card, so that people
really know what the power of women-owned business
is." "The survey of women-owned business numbers are
important for making the case to our politicians and our
public policy people, that its really important to
focus on women- owned business, its really
important to help businesses, women-owned and small
business increase their power and to continue to grow.
