2007 Business Expenses Supplement (BES) Methodology

The detailed expense estimates for the retail and wholesale trade and accommodation and food services sectors are produced from data collected from a questionnaire that supplements the ARTS and AWTS questionnaires. For a description of the procedures used to design and select the samples and to produce estimates for these surveys, see:

the Annual Retail Trade Survey:

How the Surveys are Collected - Retail

And the Annual Wholesale Trade Survey:

For a description of methodology used for sectors other than wholesale and retail trades and accommodation and food services, see the respective links at the main business expenses page.
