- This video will show you how to find key statistics for an industry or geographic area using Economic Census Quick Reports.
- To begin, navigate to the Economic Census page on American FactFinder.
- If you need additional assistance locating American FactFinder, please refer to Video 1: Finding Business Data using American FactFinder.
- For this example, we’ll use 2002 Economic Census data.
- Click on the 2002 Economic Census tab.
- The 2002 Economic Census page displays.
- Next, scroll down and click on Quick Reports.
- The Quick Reports page displays.
- Quick Reports are available for the Economic Census and the Survey of Business Owners for a specific industry or geography.
- For this example, click "the United States and states" link next to 2002 Economic Census.
- The Select Industry page displays.
- If you are unsure of the NAICS code for an industry, you can locate it using the ‘Search for an industry’ search box.
- If you know the NAICS code for the industry, you can select it using the ‘Select a sector’ drop-down menu.
- For this example, let’s enter "hotels" in the "Search for an industry" text box.
- Next, select the "Use synonyms" check box and click Search.
- The "Select an industry" list displays with a list of relevant industries.
- Select "72111: Hotels (except casino hotels) & motels" from the list and click Show Result.
- Data for the hotels industry at the US and state-level displays.
- You may print or download the report using the Print / Download drop-down menu.
