Welcome to the Census Bureau's Small Business Ombudsman Website.
The mission of the Small Business Ombudsman is to be the primary advocate between the small business community and the Census Bureau. The Ombudsman serves to advocate positions directed at reducing business reporting burden, facilitating reporting, improving data access, and recognizing changes in businesses that impact the ability to report information to the Census Bureau.
The success of the economic programs at the Census Bureau depends on the cooperation and participation of American businesses and government entities. The success of your business often depends on the accurate and relevant use of economic products.
The Census Bureau is committed to reducing the burden and simplifying and facilitating survey reporting in the following ways:
Ensure that future data requests reflect accounting conventions, concepts, and defiinitions while being responsive to our data suppliers accounting and record keeping practices
Expand and improve our electronic reporting practices
Expand the use of administrative records and secure data sharing opportunities
Adopt a company-centric approach to data collection
