Here's How You Can Help Promote the 2002 Economic Census
To have an impact, information about the Economic Census needs to reach
business people in as many different ways and as often as possible from
now through February. For more resources, see the rest of this Online
Information Kit (www.census.gov/2002promo).
- Write an article. Adapt the press release
in this kit, consider additional story ideas, or call 301-763-2547 to
interview a Census official.
- Write an editorial. Make your message
persuasive. Adapt the editorial in this kit or tap an appropriate spokesperson.
- Include a PSA. Download images from the
2002 graphics page. If someone else makes the advertising decisions,
pass this page to them.
-
Link to www.census.gov/econ2002.
Make a short statement and give your users this link for more information.
- Display a Census graphic. Use one of the
graphic PSAs, logos, or images at the
2002 graphics page,
and link it to www.census.gov/econ2002.

- Make a statement. Ask your CEO to make a
public statement endorsing the Economic Census because of its benefits
to your industry or community. Issue a press release or write a letter
to the editor of your local newspaper.
- Talk about the Economic Census. When making
presentations to your business members, use the Economic Census Powerpoint
slides (with text) and/or hand out copies of a brochure (pdf) in the
Talking Points page.
- E-mail your members. Time is getting short.
Now is the best time to remind them that their civic duty comes due February
12.
- FAX your members. If faxes work better for
you, fax your reminder to your members now.
- Inform your member support desk. Your members
may inquire about the 2002 Economic Census. Refer businesses with questions
to www.census.gov/econhelp or 1-800-233-6136.
- Display posters. If business people visit
your office, display an Economic Census poster printed from pdf images.
