The census covers establishments primarily engaged in contract construction or construction on their own account for sale. =>SUBJECT-MATTER DESCRIPTION This series of one file provides the total number of establishments (with and without payroll), number of employees, payroll, value of construction work done, value of business done, and other statistics for establishments primarily engaged in the construction industries, classified in various tables according to SIC, legal form of operation, and to a lesser extent, type of construction. The file shows 1992 data. The survey included all medium size and large employers and a sample of smaller ones. Selected key statistics are published together with their relative standard error, expressed as a percentage. See the discussion of "Reliability of employer statistics" in Methodology, file CC92.MTH. The statistics for nonemployers companies (those without payroll) were gathered from business income tax returns which did not match the census employer file.
