The universe is all transportation, communications, and utilities
establishments with payroll.  Establishments with no paid employees
(nonemployers) are not included in the Establishment and Firm Size files, but
are included in the Nonemployer Statistics files.


=>SUBJECT-MATTER DESCRIPTION

The information included in the Establishment and Firm Size files of this CD-
ROM is the same as that shown in the printed Establishment and Firm Size
report, UC92-S-1.

Establishment data include revenue size and employment size of establishments. 
Firm size data include data for single unit and multiunit firms, concentration
by largest firms, and revenue and employment size.  The legal form of
organization data include number of firms, number of establishments, revenue,
annual payroll, and employment.

Data are provided for the United States.


=>SIC/KIND-OF-BUSINESS DETAIL

The 1992 Census of Transportation, Communications, and Utilities covers
transportation, communications, and utilities as defined in the 1987 Standard
Industrial Classification (SIC) Manual.  This includes establishments
classified in Major Groups 41-49.  The census does not include government-
operated businesses.

every file discussed in the Type of File section of this abstract.

GO92.   This software system does not access data in the Establishment and
Firm Size files.
