PIECE GOODS, NOTIONS, AND OTHER DRY GOODS (SIC F5131)

Establishments primarily engaged in the wholesale distribution of piece goods
or yard goods of natural or manmade fibers, notions (sewing and hair
accessories, etc.), and other dry goods.  Converters who buy fabric goods
(except knit goods) in the grey, have them finished on contract, and sell at
wholesale are included here.  Establishments primarily engaged in converting
knit goods are classified in Manufacturing, Industry Group 225. 
Establishments primarily engaged in the wholesale distribution of
homefurnishings are classified in Industry 5023.  

SIC 5131 is subdivided in some tables into the following catagories-

1. Piece goods.

   a. Piece goods-jobbers.

   b. Piece goods-converters.

2. Notions and other dry goods.


PIECE GOODS

Establishments primarily engaged in the wholesale distribution of piece goods
or yard goods of natural or manmade fibers.  Converters who buy fabric goods
(except knit goods) in the grey, have them finished on contract, and sell at
wholesale are included here.  Establishments primarily engaged in converting
knit goods are classified in Manufacturing, Industry Group 225. 

Piece goods are subdivided in  some tables into the following catagories-

Establishments primarily engaged in the wholesale distribution of piece goods
or yard goods of natural or manmade fibers (woven and knit).  Converters who
buy fabric goods (except knit goods) in the grey, have them finished on
contract, and sell at wholesale are classified as piece goods-converters. 
Establishments primarily engaged in the act of converting knit goods are
classified in Manufacturing, Industry Group 225.  


PIECE GOODS-CONVERTERS

Establishments primarily engaged in buying fabric goods (except knit goods)
in the gray or unfinished forms, have them finished on contract, and sell at
wholesale.  Establishments primarily engaged in converting knit goods are
classified in Manufacturing, Industry Group 225. 


NOTIONS AND OTHER DRY GOODS

Establishments primarily engaged in the wholesale distribution of notions
(sewing accessories, etc.), and other dry goods, except piece goods.
