GROCERIES AND RELATED PRODUCTS, NOT ELSEWHERE CLASSIFIED (SIC F5149)

Establishments primarily engaged in the wholesale distribution of groceries
and related products, not elsewhere classified.  Establishments primarily
engaged in the wholesale distribution of soft drinks, and in bottling and
distributing natural spring and mineral waters, are classified in this
industry, but establishments primarily engaged in bottling soft drinks are
classified in Manufacturing, Major Group 20.  This industry does not include
establishments primarily engaged in the wholesale distribution of farm-
product raw materials classified in Industry Group 515, nor those
distributing beer, wine, and distilled alcoholic beverages of Industry Group
518.

SIC 5149 is subdivided in some tables into the following catagories-

1. Coffee, tea, and spices.

2. Bread and baked goods.

3. Soft drinks and bottled water.

4. Canned goods.

5. Food and beverage basic materials.

6. Other grocery specialties.


COFFEE, TEA, AND SPICES

Establishments primarily engaged in the wholesale distribution of coffee,
soluble coffee, tea (bagged, packaged, loose, or powdered) and spices. 
Establishments primarily engaged in roasting coffee, blending tea, or
grinding and packaging spices are classified in Manufacturing, 
Major Group 20.


BREAD AND BAKED GOODS

Establishments primarily engaged in the wholesale distribution of bread,
cakes, biscuits, doughnuts, pastries, crackers, pretzels, and other bakery
products, except frozen.  Establishments primarily engaged in the wholesale
distribution of frozen bread and baked goods are classified in Industry 5142.


SOFT DRINKS AND BOTTLED WATER

Establishments primarily engaged in the wholesale distribution of
noncarbonated beverages, sodas, and soft drinks and unprocessed bottled water.


CANNED GOODS

Establishments primarily engaged in the wholesale distribution of canned or
bottled fruits, vegetables, juice, baby food, meat, poultry, fish, seafood,
and dairy products(condensed or evaporated).  Establishments primarily
engaged in the wholesale distribution of soft drinks are classified in soft
drinks.  Establishments primarily engaged in the wholesale distribution of
raw milk are classified in Industry 5143.  


FOOD AND BEVERAGE BASIC MATERIALS

Establishments primarily engaged in the wholesale distribution of malt
extract, sausage casings, fruit peel, brewers yeast, chocolate coatings, hop
extract, beverage base, and other basic food products.  Establishments
primarily engaged in the wholesale distribution of beverage concentrates are
classified in soft drinks.


OTHER GROCERY SPECIALTIES

Establishments primarily engaged in the wholesale distribution of flour,
refined sugar, breakfast cereals, butter substitutes (margarine, etc.),
cooking oils, dried fruits, dried beans (packaged), honey, jams and jellies,
pickles, preserves and sauces, polished rice, sandwiches, vegetable
shortening, and other miscellaneous food items.
