Subject: AES SPECIAL EDITION NEWSLETTER

AES Broadcast 05/18/2004 Broadcast # 2004029

The U.S. Census AES Branch has specifically written a SPECIAL EDITION
May 2004 newsletter to assist AES filers with the commodity redesign.
For those filers who have already viewed the newsletter, please pay
close attention to corrections made to the time of the AES outage and
the AES downtime citiation. Filers are encouraged to read this
newsletter for answers to the following questions:

What do filers need to do to make sure your AES transmissions don't reject?
Why might more records reject after the redesign?
When will the redesign take place?
How long will AES be down to switch to the redesign program?
What must filers do before, during and after the AES downtime?
What is required on commercial documents (bills of lading, waybills) during the downtime?
What are the biggest concerns to those filers currently testing the redesigned AES?
How is post-departure filing affected by the AES redesign?
Who to contact if you need additional assistance?
