Publication of the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPR) for revisions
The Census Bureau has issued a Notice of Public Rulemaking (NPR) that impacts the export trade community. This NPR revises the FTR to reflect new export reporting requirements. Specifically, the Census Bureau is requiring mandatory filing of export information through the Automated Export System (AES) or through AESDirect for all shipments of used vehicles, temporary exports, household goods, and modifications to the scope and timeframe for the AES postdeparture program. In addition to the new export reporting requirements, the proposed rule clarifies sections of the FTR.
The comment period for the NPR will be 60 days from the publication date, which is on January 21, 2011 and will end on March 22, 2011.
