FAQs - General

When I try to look at an Acrobat file (PDF) on your site, my browser won't display the contents.

Occasionally, some people, upon clicking a link to an Acrobat file, see their browser open the Acrobat plug-in as usual, but don't see anything on the screen.

What you expect to see.
What these people actually see.
Click on the thumbnails above to see full views of the images.

While we're still investigating what causes this to happen, we can suggest the following:

  1. Make sure you've upgraded your Adobe Acrobat Reader to version 5.0.
  2. Go to the web page from which you were trying to access the Acrobat file. For example, the FTD Regulations Branch FORMS page.

  3. Place your mouse over the link to the Acrobat file.

    Mouse over the PDF link

  4. There are two options:

    1. While holding down the SHIFT key on your keyboard, click the link.
    2. Bring up the pop-up menu for this link. On a Windows PC, you right-click the link. On that menu, select "Save link as..." or "Save target as..."

  5. You should now be presented with the "Save as..." box. Tell the browser where you want to save the PDF on your machine.

    [The SAVE AS... window]
    The SAVE AS... window

  6. You should now be able to go to that location on your hard drive and open the Acrobat file.

If this option does not work or you have a different error, please let us know through our FEEDBACK page.
