  FAQ: Regulations:

I have been told by my freight forwarder to call the Exporter Counseling Division (202-482-4811) to receive a validated license number and an export commodity classification number (ECCN). Can you please supply me with these numbers?

The Export Counseling Division (ECD) is not a licensing office. ECD cannot provide an exporter with a validated license number or ECCN as suggested by the freight forwarders or couriers. ECD's role is to assist the exporter by providing guidance on how to obtain an ECCN that would determine if the exporter must apply for an export license, or in determining Libya and Sudan have been abolished, is this true? No. These embargoes are still in place. They are administered by the Office of Foreign Assets Control, of the Department of the Treasury. OFAC made some modifications to the embargoes relating to the export of food, medicine, and certain agriculture commodities. You should consult OFAC about these changes.
