Data Request Guidelines

Before Submitting a Data Request

  • A company may receive 12 months of data free of charge every 365 days
      - For additional months or multiple requests, the company will be charged $125 per month
  • If you are a parent company, verify with your subsidiaries to ensure a request was not submitted in the last 365 days
  • If you are a wholly owned subsidiary, verify with your parent company to ensure a request was not submitted in the last 365 days
  • For paid requests, please provide one of the following:
      - A check payable to Commerce/Census/ITMD, sent to the address below, or;
      - A completed Credit Card Form, sent to our secure fax at 301-763-8835

How to Submit a Data Request

Mail Request Letter to:

Suitland, MD 20746 (if sent by FedEx) or Washington DC 20233 (Regular Mail)*

* Due to security measures, requests sent via Regular Mail can take up to 2 weeks more to receive.

What to Include on the Data Request Letter:

  • Submit on company letterhead
  • Identify the party requesting export data:
      - United States Principal Party in Interest (USPPI) or;
      - U.S. Authorized Agent
  • Reason for request (i.e. internal company audit)
  • **Employer Identification Number(s) (EINs) and names of the requesting company and all subsidiaries, affiliates, or business units
  • Specific time frame for request (e.g. January 2013 through December 2013)
  • Contact Information:
      - Name of Company,
      - Address,
      - Phone Number, Fax Number, and Email Address
  • Signature of empowered official
  • A copy of the signed Certification of Authority.
** Requests are typically processed within 3-4 weeks; however, requests that contain 25 or more EINs may take 4 weeks or longer to process
