Boundary and Annexation Survey (BAS) Schedule

The Census Bureau is mailing, faxing or emailing an annual response letter to all federally recognized American Indian tribes with reservations or off-reservation trust land, governmental counties (and equivalent areas), incorporated places, consolidated cities, and governmental Minor Civil Divisions (MCDs) in December of 2012 and January of 2013.

All BAS respondents that wish to submit boundary changes, corrections, or feature updates must request maps from the Census Bureau or download materials from this web site. All 2013 BAS maps, forms, letters and user guides are available for download. Participants who wish to have paper maps and/or materials delivered must notify the Census Bureau prior to April 15, 2013.

The Census Bureau must receive responses to the 2013 BAS before March 1, 2013 to be included in the Population Estimates Program and the American Community Survey

DATE ACTIVITY
December 2012/January 2013 Annual response packages are mailed, faxed, or emailed to participants.
January 1, 2013 Annexations must be effective by this date in order to be submitted during the 2013 BAS.
March 1, 2013 Boundary annexation information received by the Census Bureau by this date will be included in the Population Estimates Program and the American Community Survey.
April 15, 2013 Participants must notify the Census Bureau by this date if they would like to receive paper maps and/or MAF/TIGER Partnership Software materials.
May 31, 2013 Boundary annexation information received by the Census Bureau by this date will be included in the 2014 BAS materials.
