- The Island Areas (American Samoa, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Guam, and the U.S. Virgin Islands) are not included in these files.
- The vintage of the geography in these files is as of the 2010 Census (that is, as of January 1, 2010).
- Because of changes in boundaries and entity names, as well as the creation of new entities, and the dissolution of others, users should not expect to find a "one-to-one" relationship between the entity names and codes in these files and the comparable Census 2000 or 1990 Census files.
