TOP 3 PRIORITY ITEMS FOR EACH OF THE GSS INITIATIVE 10 WORKING GROUPS Priority # Working Group Priority 1 Address Coverage and Sources Reviewing the current MAF update processes and recommending areas for improvement. 2 Address Coverage and Sources Recommending methods and requirements for maintaining Group Quarters addresses in the MAF. 3 Address Coverage and Sources Working closely with the Partnerships WG to recommend methods to improve MAF coverage using nontraditional address sources such as partner-supplied or commercial address data. 1 Feature Coverage and Sources Identify feature problems within the MTDB and identify appropriate metrics to gauge the severity of identified problems. Consolidate into a GSS Initiative section of the existing GEO MIS and in a GSS Initiative Workflow Chart. 3 Project and Contract Management Continue coordinating with the GCMB to perform market research and initiate appropriate GSS Initiative related contracts. 1 Policy Focus on the Census Bureau’s goal of conducting a targeted address canvassing in preparation for the next decennial census in 2020; communicate with the other GSS Initiative Working Groups, other Census Bureau Divisions and external stakeholders as to the quality of the MTDB and the feasibility of a targeted address canvassing. 2 Policy Assess whether external stakeholder participation in the GSS Initiative, specifically the submission of address lists and spatial databases, is leading toward the goal of a targeted address canvassing. 3 Policy Focus on the restrictions of address and spatial data under Title 13, the legislation which requires the Census Bureau keep the content of the Master Address File (MAF) and housing unit locations confidential.
