2008 Census Dress Rehearsal LUCA Program

The 2008 Census Dress Rehearsal LUCA program offered state and local governments the option to participate using paper census maps and address listings, computer-readable address lists, and digital representations of the census maps in shapefile format [PDF] / [Word] that require a Geographic Information System (GIS) software package. For the 2010 Decennial Census LUCA program, participants are able to use the MAF/TIGER Partnership Software application that combines the census address list, the address count list, and the maps in an easy to use GIS software package. This software was under development and not available as an option for the Dress Rehearsal LUCA program. The Dress Rehearsal covered nine (9) counties in the Fayetteville, North Carolina area, (County map and County map with Congressional Districts) [PDF],and San Joaquin County in California, (County map and County map with Congressional Districts) [PDF]. The 2008 Census DR LUCA Participation Status Report [PDF] / [Excel] lists the eligible geographic entities and their participation status. User Guides provide instructions for the LUCA participant, and the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) contains information highlights in a question and answer format.
