Census 2000 American Indian, Alaska Native, Hawaiian Home Land Block Maps

These large scale, large format (36" x 33") maps depict the smallest geographic entities for which the Census Bureau presents data, census blocks. The maps show the boundaries, names, and codes for American Indian/Alaska Native/Hawaiian Homeland areas, counties, county subdivisions, places, census tracts and blocks. Base feature detail, such as roads, railroads, and water features based on Census 2000 TIGER are also shown. The scale of the maps has been optimized to keep the number of map sheets for each area to a minimum, but the scale and number of sheets will vary by the area size of the county and the complexity of the census blocks. The maps are grouped by the entity types listed below:

Federally Designated American Indian/Alaska Native Area Maps (AIR_Federal). Both federal and state reservations may cross the boundaries of counties, county subdivisions, and places.

State Designated American Indian/Alaska Native Area Maps (AIR_State). Both federal and state reservations may cross the boundaries of counties, county subdivisions, and places.

Alaska Native Village Statistical Area Maps (ANVSA). ANVSAs represent densely settled portions of Alaska Native villages. ANVSA boundaries do not overlap other ANVSAs.

Hawaiian Home Lands Area Maps (HHL). HHLs are areas held in trust for native Hawaiians by the state of Hawaii. HHLs are a new geographic entity for Census 2000.

Oklahoma Tribal Statistical Area Maps (OTSA). Boundaries of OTSAs are those of former reservations in Oklahoma. OTSAs replace the "tribal jurisdiction statistical areas" of the 1990 census.

State Designated American Indian Statistical Area Maps (SDAISA). SDAISAs generally encompass a compact and contiguous area that contains a concentration of people who identify with a state recognized American Indian tribe. SDAISAs may not include areas within an American Indian reservation, off-reservation trust land, Alaska Native village statistical areas, tribal designated statistical areas (TDSA), or Oklahoma tribal statistical areas.

Tribal Designated Statistical Area Maps (TDSA). TDSAs generally encompass a compact and contiguous area that contains a concentration of people who identify with a federally recognized American Indian tribe. TDSAs may not include areas within an American Indian reservation, off-reservation trust land, Alaska Native village statistical areas, tribal designated statistical areas (TDSA), or Oklahoma tribal statistical areas.
