Latest TIGER/Line^® Shapefile Release

• TIGER/Line^®Shapefiles are spatial extracts from the Census Bureau's MAF/TIGER database, containing features such as roads, railroads, rivers, as well as legal and statistical geographic areas.
• TIGER/Line^®Shapefiles are made available to the public for no charge and are typically used to provide the digital map base for a Geographic Information System or for mapping software.
• TIGER/Line^®Shapefiles are designed for use with geographic information system (GIS) software. The TIGER/Line^®Shapefiles do not include demographic data, but they contain geographic entity codes that can be linked to the Census Bureau’s demographic data, available on American FactFinder

Previous TIGER/Line^® Shapefiles

• 2008 TIGER/Line^® Shapefiles Main Page -- Released December 8, 2008.
• 2007 TIGER/Line^® Shapefiles Main Page -- Released March 31, 2008. 
  • The 2007 TIGER/Line^®Shapefiles were the first release of TIGER spatial data from the modernized Census Bureau's MAF/TIGER database in shapefile format.
  • TIGER/Line^®Shapefiles have replaced the TIGER/Line files which were first made available in 1990.

Previous TIGER/Line^® Files

• The first TIGER/Line files, offered in ASCII format, were released in 1990 and provided the first nationwide street centerline coverage of the United States, Puerto Rico, and the Island Areas.
• TIGER/Line ^®files are digital files and contain geographic features, such as roads, railroads, rivers, as well as legal and statistical geographic areas.
• The 2006 Second Edition TIGER/Line files are the last version of the TIGER/Line^®files the Census Bureau released.
• TIGER/Line^®files are offered in State/County folders. The following versions of TIGER/Line^®files are available online: 2006 Second Edition TIGER/Line^®files, 108th CD Census 2000 TIGER/Line^® files, UA Census 2000 TIGER/Line^® files, Census 2000 TIGER/Line^® files, and the Redistricting Census 2000 TIGER/Line^® files.
