Data File Layout

The data file (yystaxcd.txt) is a comma delimited file and comprised of detailed tax collection data for each of the 50 states. The Excel table below provide short descriptions for item codes in the file.

• Item Codes and Short Descriptions [EXCEL, 16KB] – Provides the finance tax codes and population reference with their corresponding descriptions.

Further definitions for each code are found in the 2006 Government Finance and Employment Classification Manual.
