The CPH-L paper listings were created to supplement the information available through the Census Bureau's 1990 Census of Population and Housing tabulation and publication program. These tables contain data collected by the 1960, 1970, 1980, and the 1990 Censuses of Population. They display poverty data over the last 30 years at various geographic levels, i.e., the states, as well as The District of Columbia, counties, cities and tracts. These listings cover a wide variety of topics such as poverty status by family type, race, age, sex, and residence. They also cover rankings by poverty status.
Included here are tables CPH-L 162, Persons by Poverty Status in 1969, 1979, and 1989, by State, and CPH-L 187, State Poverty Rates by Sex and Race: 1989. Also included is a list of all tables in the historical census package which are available from the Census Library.
Additional 1990 census data are available through the American FactFinder.
