Income and Poverty: 1994


   "Overall, there was no change in median household income from 1993 to
   1994, which remained at $32,264.  There was a significant decrease in 
   the number of poor and in the poverty rate.  The number of poor 
   decreased 1.2 million between 1993 and 1994 to 38.1 million persons 
   and the poverty rate decreased from 15.1 to 14.5 percent."
