School District Estimates of Poverty -- 1999 Description of Files on the FTP Sites I. File Organization: The files in the FTP directory contain estimates of population and poverty. The school districts for which we have estimates were identified in the 2001 school district mapping project's survey which asked for all school districts as of July 15, 2001. Thus the 1999 estimates reflect poverty in 1999 of the population in 2000 for school district boundaries in the 2001-2002 school year. There is one file for each of the states, the District of Columbia, and the entire United States. Each file contains the FIPS state code, Department of Education Common Core of Data (CCD) ID numbers, District names, the total population, population of school-age children, and estimated number of poor school-age children related to the head of the household. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - II.
