HIV/AIDS Surveillance Data Base Installation

Current Version: Sept 2004

(Please read first before executing)

The latest HIV/AIDS Surveillance Data Base is quite large and requires large support files for installation. The following installation and download should be undertaken only if you have a very high speed connection to the internet and over 300 megabytes of hard disk space. The data base can be obtained in CD-ROM format. Contact the Health Studies Branch to request a copy.

The HIV/AIDS Surveillance Data Base requires Windows 95 or later to run. It is a self-contained Microsoft Access 2000 runtime application, that is, MS Access is not required on your microcomputer for this application to run. This program requires at least 32mb or more of RAM to run efficiently. Approximately 100mb of free disk space is needed for installation and execution. Installation on a stand-alone computer is recommended, although the program can be installed on a network drive.

For advanced users only: If you already have Microsoft Access 2000 and do not want to use the Access 2000 runtime module to run the database, but prefer to run the database with your own copy of Access 2000, click HIV2K.EXE (15MB) to download only the self-extracting database file. The database may not run if certain DLL files are not installed. If you encounter problems, download HIV2KDLL.EXE (1 MB) and execute the file in the \Windows\System subdirectory to extract the required system files. The file(s) will uncompress when executed.
