Description: An "Electronic Statistical Machine." The "electronic statistical machine" used following the 1950 census combined the operations of the mechanical sorter (right-rear) and counting machine (left-rear) into one operation. The Census Bureau estimated that 500 people working by hand, would spend their entire lives doing the work of this single machine following the 1950 census.
