2002 Economic Census
The 2002 Economic Census used direct data collection or administrative records to compile statistics on approximately 23 million business establishments, covering some 97 percent of all economic activity in the United States. The enumeration covered industries defined by the 2002 North American Industry Classification System. In addition to the general enumeration of businesses, the 2002 census program included surveys of business owners, vehicle inventory and use, commodity flows, and business expenditures.
