Vehicle Inventory and Use Survey CD-ROMs

Conducted as part of the 2002 Economic Census, the Vehicle Inventory and Use Survey (VIUS) provides data on private and commerical trucks registered (or licenced) as of July 1, 2002. A sample of about 136,000 trucks were surveyed to measure the characteristics of nearly 89 million trucks registered in the United States. Data include body type, major use, truck type, size, annual miles, range of operation, fuel efficiency, annual lifetime mileage, model year, and equipment accessories.

Note: The survey excludes vehichles owned by federal, state, or local governments; ambulances; buses; motor homes; farm tractors; unpowered trailer units; and trucks reported to have been sold, junked, or wrecked prior to January 1, 2002.

Vehicle Inventory and Use Survey Microdata CD-ROM: 2002

CD-ROM showing microdata based on the 2002 Vehicle Inventory and Use Survey (VIUS). Provides data on the physical and operational characteristics of the nation's private and commercial truck population. The CD-ROM has almost 100,000 individual truck records (modified to avoid identifying specific vehicles or owners) and software which allows you to generate your own customized tabulations. The Ivation Beyond 20/20 browser allows users to construct tabulations from the microdata. The CD also has data in HTML & PDF formats. It also contains state and U.S. tables.

It also contains state and U.S. tables, including some tables not previously released.
