Population

2008 Data Release. The U.S. Census Bureau will release data from the 2008 American Community Survey on Tuesday, September 22nd. This release will include all one-year estimates from data collected in 2008, including income and poverty estimates. In addition to the full complement of social, economic and housing data, this release will also include estimates on health insurance coverage, marital history and veterans' service-connected disability ratings for the first time. These estimates will be available for the nation, all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, every congressional district and all counties, places and metropolitan areas with populations of 65,000 or more.

The Foreign-Born Labor Force in the United States: 2007. This analysis from American Community Survey data looks at the characteristics of the civilian foreign-born vs. native labor force population on topics that include educational attainment, occupation and industry.

America's Families and Living Arrangements: 2007. Who are America's stay-at-home moms? Do they tend to have more or less education than mothers in the workforce? Are they younger or older? This report from the Current Population Survey provides a look at the basic trends in household and family composition. It also shows state-level variation in the kinds of households children live in, such as married-couple families, unmarried-partner households and single-parent families.

Income, Poverty and Health Insurance Coverage: 2008. On September 10, the Census Bureau will release the consolidated report on income, poverty and health insurance coverage for the nation, based on the Annual Social and Economic Supplement to the 2009 Current Population Survey.

Quarterly Services Survey: Second Quarter, 2009. Press release showing quarterly estimates of total operating revenue and the percentage of revenue by class of customer for the services industries. Scheduled for release September 9, 2009.

US International Trade in Goods and Services: July 2009. Press release showing monthly exports, general imports (including data by country), and limited data on imports for consumption. Scheduled for release September 10, 2009.

Monthly Wholesale Trade: Sales and Inventories: July 2009. Press release showing estimates for sales, inventories on a non-LIFO ("last in-first out") basis, and stock-sales ratios for merchant wholesalers by three-digit major kind-of-business groups. Scheduled for release September 11, 2009.

Quarterly Financial Report: Manufacturers, Mining, and Wholesale Trade: Second Quarter, 2009. Press release showing up-to-date aggregate statistics on U.S. manufacturing, mining, and wholesale trade corporations. Scheduled for release September 14, 2009.

Advance Monthly Sales for Retail and Food Services: August 2009. Press release presenting advance monthly estimates of retail store sales by kind-of-business groups. Report includes seasonally adjusted estimates and percentage changes for major kind-of-business groups. Scheduled for release September 15, 2009.

Manufacturing and Trade: Inventories and Sales: July 2009. Press release showing sales, inventories, and inventories-to-sales ratios for the combined domestic activities of retailers, wholesalers, and manufacturers. Scheduled for release September 15, 2009.

Housing Starts and Building Permits: August 2009. Press release showing data for housing starts, completions, and building permits. Scheduled for release September 17, 2009.


Economic Census and Surveys

2007 Economic Census: Mining Industry Series. This is a series of national-level data files on the mining sector (NAICS 21). These include data for industries such as crude petroleum, natural gas, gold, silver, iron, copper, lead, sand, gravel and others. The files provide data on the number of establishments, shipments, payroll, number of employees, value of product shipments and other data items by industry.


Government

2007 State and Local Government Finances. Complete statistics on the financial activity of all 50 state governments from the 2007 Census of Governments. Data cover revenues by type (taxes and federal aid), expenditures by character (current operations, capital outlay, payments to other governments), expenditures by function (welfare, health, education, natural resources), indebtedness, and cash and security holdings.
