Subject content: Digital map data for 1990 census geographic areas, basic map features (streets, rivers, railroads, etc.) and their names, address ranges, and ZIP Codes (in 345 core metropolitan areas), in the form of 14 record types. Address-range information covers an estimated 85 million individual addresses compared with 55 million in the 1990 version of these files.

Geography Boundaries of legal entities as reported to the Census Bureau to be in effect on January 1, 1992, as well as the final 1990 census tabulation area codes for those entities and certain statistical areas, such as blocks, census tracts, and block numbering areas (BNA's). Also, boundaries for Congressional Districts of the 103rd Congress; 1990 urbanized area codes for each block in an urbanized area and an urban indicator for each block; and boundaries and codes for Elementary, Middle, Secondary, and Unified School Districts.

File format & software: Files are ASCII. Comes with. Landview desktop mapping software (block-group polygons only and no thematic mapping), an adaptation of the computer mapping application Marplot) is designed to show the contents of TIGER/Line ® files and to show corresponding census population and housing data.
