Subject content: Each of these products was source of one or two subject reports (see CP-3) and also is available on computer tape. The SSTFs provide the data for more geographic areas than the printed subject reports. The printed reports presented data for only the United States, regions, divisions; the SSTFs usually report data for States, metropolitan areas, and large counties and places as well.

The files also are designed to help meet the data needs filled in the 1980 Census by Detailed Population Characteristics (PC80-1-D), Metropolitan Housing Characteristics (HC80-2), and STF 5.
