Centennial Celebration Highlights
- A condensed version of the day's events including soundbites
from podium speakers, songs from the Census Bureau Chorale, and
awards presentations. Will run approximately 5-10 minutes.
From Inkwell To Internet
- Since the first census in 1790, the Census Bureau has distinguished
itself as a world leader in statistical science, cartography,
and data processing. This video tells the story of the years leading
up to the founding of the U.S. Census Bureau in 1902. Filmed historical
recreations cover the period from the first census taken in 1790,
to the establishment of the Bureau in 1902, to the most recent
census in 2000, with a look toward the 21st century. Includes
official introductions by Regional Directors. Runs approximately
12 minutes.
The Census Anniversary Quilt
- Created by Census Bureau employee Carol Briggs, the quilt chronicles
the history of the Census Bureau as it parallels the history of
our nation. Scenes depicted include colonial times, expanding
industry, trade and transportation. Runs approximately 3 minutes.
